I am very close to purchasing a tractor and have one question. Since I'm looking at no-frills tractors to stay within my budget (Mahindra E350) it doesn't have an auxilliary hydraulic hookup at the rear. Since most of my use will be mowing (rotary and sickle bar) and box scraper work, I assume it won't matter. What kinds of implements need that extra set of hydraulic ports???

Hydraulic remotes are not standard on the smaller tractors. The only thing I think they're needed for are some backhoes and hydraulic top links. Most everything else that requires power, such as rear mowers, use the PTO. But I'm fairly new to tractordom and there are lots of folks here that know far more than me. ....

I'd add that 3ph log splitters, chippers with hydraulic feeds, and rear angling blades often use rear hydraulics too. There are probably many others as well. Some implements are available with their own self-contained hydraulic systems driven off the pto. ....

some sickles use a hydraulic cylinder to raise all the way. Box scrapers have hydraulic teeth movement. Snowblowers have hydraulic rotation. ....

I never found my box scraper very useful until I got a hydraulic top-link. If you anticipate much scraper work an outlet for a top-link would be a very good investment.
A cheap way of doing it would be to get a top-link with long enough hoses to reach the loader valve and steal the curl circuit. That's the solution I use for my forklift that requires two rear circuits. The solution would be a pain for me to use with the box scraper since I switch back and forth between loader and scraper frequently doing most jobs. There are hydraulic multipliers but they are just a little less pain to swap back and forth and I haven't heard any really favourable comments about them. ....
